In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 10,900 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1865, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format.

  • American National Biography Online *
    Biographical resource on more than 18,000 people from all eras who have influenced and shaped American history and culture. The ANB Online features thousands of illustrations, more than 80,000 hyperlinked cross-references, links to select web sites, and powerful search capabilities. All articles originally included in the ANB Online were on biographical subjects who died before the end of 1995. Articles on important figures who have died since 1995 are being added in quarterly updates.

  • Birds of North America (BNA) [Trial]
    A comprehensive reference covering the life histories of North American birds. Contents are updated frequently, with contributions from researchers, citizen scientists, and designated reviewers and editors. In addition, BNA Online contains image and video galleries showing behaviors, habitat, nests, eggs and nestlings, and more. And each online species account contains recordings of that bird's songs and calls, selected from the extensive collection in Cornell's Macaulay Library of Natural Sounds.

    Bizminer Academic offers "Sole Proprietor and Start-Up" and "Industry Financial Reports" with average income statements, cash flows, balance sheet and financial ratios for benchmarking and projections for smaller private enterprises. It is searchable by keyword, SIC code or industry cluster.
  • Black Drama
    When completed, this database will contain the full-text of 1,200 plays, written from the mid-1800s to the present, by more than 100 playwrights worldwide including such notables as Langston Hughes and Zora Neal Hurston. The plays are accompanied by reference materials, performance information and images. The collection covers key writings from the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts movement from the 1960s and 1970s as well as 20th century African and Caribbean drama.
  • Bloomberg Professional * (Only available to Villanova students, faculty, and non-administrative staff) Bloomberg Professional assists users in finding a wide variety of financial information, provides in-depth financial data and gives students the ability to perform in-depth analysis such as correlation analysis, theoretical pricing models, and potential arbitrage pricing discrepancies on various financial products. Bloomberg facilitates the monitoring global financial market data and news and provides current and historical financial statement data. Detailed information on risk analysis and financial solvency can also be found for most securities.

    Indexes book reviews published in U.S., Canadian and British periodicals, covering over 7,000 adult and children's books each year. Includes English-language fiction and nonfiction.
  • Book Review Digest Retrospective  (WilsonWeb) * [1905-1982]
    This database covers some 300,000 books, citing more than 1.5 million book reviews. Master records for each book include the title's essentials (author, descriptive summary, publisher, publication year, page count, ISBN, indicator of illustrations, and more) plus links to review excerpts and review citations. Virtually every book has at least one substantial review excerpt, presenting the most evaluative passages of the review, and most have at least two. These excerpts, together with the descriptive summaries of the books, deliver a complete picture of how the book was received at the time it was published.

    Reviews scholarly publications suitable for university library collections.     Not a completely full-text resource but an enhanced version of CINAHL, this database indexes and provides full text for 329 selected nursing journals. References are provided for an additional 2,500 journals in the fields of nursing and allied health, as well as publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses' Association, health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, and audiovisuals.

  • Communication & Mass Media Complete (EBSCO) * [1915-]
    The database combines two earlier databases in the fields of communication and mass media studies CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association (NCA), and Mass Media Articles Index (formerly produced by Pennsylvania State University). CMMC offers cover-to-cover (core) indexing and abstracts for over 300 journals, and selected (priority) coverage of over 100 more, for a combined coverage of over 400 titles. This database includes full text for nearly 200 journals. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs and searchable citations from their first issues to the present.
  • Community Health Data Base (CHDB)* [2000, 2002; Updated biannually] Only available to the Villanova Community; for more information ask at Reference Desk or Nursing Lab.
    The central component of the database is the Southeastern Pennsylvania Household Health Surveys that provide timely information on the residents, children and adults who live in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. The survey targets key information about health status, personal health behaviors and access to and utilization of area health services. Data  available at the census tract, ZIP code, county and regional level. The survey has been conducted eight times since 1983; the database covers only the 2000 and 2002 surveys.

    Provides business data on various sectors of the U.S. economy, such as: construction, manufacturing, retail trade and real estate.
  • CQ Global Researcher *
    CQ Global Researcher explores international perspectives in a digestible, easy-to-access format featuring popular sections such as “Current Situation," “Issue Questions” and “Pro-Con." Maps, charts, and other explanatory graphics are included as well.
